Usually I can’t stand people that are Black and White thinkers – this or that. That is not how the world is. YOU need to see shades – and the full color spectrum when you think. As a painter, I do understand the value and the power of Black and White – and in photos – I have a love affair with Black and White styles. I have a whole series of my life down in black and white that hang in my office. To me, they are striking in reminding me of my past. I remember my days back at UCSB when I was taking painting classes - a lot of effort was taken up by creating space and I learned the simple white areas spoke loudly. I find that white space can be very haunting to me. It can also be very beautiful.

I like how instagram has the easy filters – you can do so much with your pictures. I was doing a lot of orange in Costa Rica. I have been doing some blue lately with other pictures. But I still keep going back to Black and White.
